What Time Is It on the Moon?

from News For Kids · host ICRT

What time is it in New York? I know that's a hard question. New York is 12 hours behind Taiwan. When it's noon here, it's midnight in New York. You're eating lunch. But kids in New York are sleeping. Japan is one hour ahead of Taiwan. It's noon here. But it's 1 PM there. Kids in Japan are finished with lunch. New York, Japan, and Taiwan are in different time zones. The world has 24 time zones. Here's a very hard question. What time is it on the moon? Well, no one knows. Different countries say different times! Astronauts from different countries want to work together. But they need to use the same time. There is a problem. The moon's gravity and the earth's gravity are different. Clocks are faster there. Scientists want to make a moon time zone. Then everyone will know what time it is on the moon. A moon time zone is a great idea! ________________________________ Vocabulary 月球時間要怎麼計算? You should go to bed. It's already midnight. Midnight is still early, you know. Yeah, for people across the Pacific. I mean it. Some people are just starting their day, but I have finished my work. 3. work 工作 I want more time to sleep and less time at work. Same here. But what about more money for more work? This Impact Studios production is a collaboration with the Governor family, UTS Faculty of Law and Jumbunna Institute for Indigenous Education and Research. The Last Outlaws teamKatherine Biber - UTS Law Professor and Chief InvestigatorAunty Loretta Parsley - Great-granddaughter of Jimmy Governor and the Governor Family Historian Leroy Parsons - Governor descendant, Narrator and Co-WriterKaitlyn Sawrey - Host, Writer and Senior ProducerFrank Lopez - Writer, Managing Next Generation Energy Systems Cambridge University Background Stakeholders working with energy systems have to make complex decisions formulated from risk-based assessments about the future. The move towards more renewables in our energy systems complicates matters even further, requiring the development of an integrated power grid and continuous and steady transformation of the UK power system. Network flows must be managed reliably under uncertain demands, uncertain supply, emerging network technologies and possible failures and, further, prices in related markets can be highly volatile. Mathematicians working with engineers and economists, can make significant contributions to address such issues, by helping to develop fit-for-purpose models for next generation energy systems. These interdisciplinary approaches are looking to address a range of associated problems, including modelling, prediction, simulation, control, market and mechanism design and optimisation.
