What To "Get" If You're Gonna Give

As a pastor teaching about money and ministry, watching the initial responses of people is always a bit fascinating. Reactions include nervousness, defensiveness, self-righteous legalism,  guilt, denial and outright shutdown in terms of even listening. Two big  questions are How much do I have to give? and Is giving on the gross or the net? Another is Do we ‘tithe’ or is ‘grace giving’ our rule? Here’s the truth: God never intended that giving money to His Ministry would create this much consternation. Instead, His design was simple enough: That His kids would experience the joy of consistently generous giving as a reflective testimony to what Jesus is like ... a loving Lord who consistently and generously gives to us. In this study, the Apostle Paul gives focus to what the heart of giving is really all about for followers of Jesus. A giving heart in a believer is a remarkable witness to the giving heart of Christ that can’t be ignored by God, the Church, or even the unsaved world.
