What's the best diet for Hashimoto's?

from Save My Thyroid: Healing Tips for Hyperthyroidism and Hashimoto's · host Dr. Eric Osansky

There’s no one best diet for any health condition but there are certain similarities across diets that are beneficial for those with thyroid and autoimmune thyroid conditions. For my patients with Graves’ and Hashimoto’s, I typically recommend an AIP diet as a starting point, eventually reintroducing foods which don’t trigger a negative response. While many patients start there, some will choose to follow other diets that people with autoimmune conditions have found to be beneficial.Today I’m sharing my dietary recommendations for people with Hashimoto's. I’m discussing the pros and cons of common diet approaches, common foods to include and avoid, and the importance of reintroducing foods after an elimination phase. In this episode, you’ll learn about:- The three types of diets I discuss in my latest book- Common foods to avoid across multiple types of diets- What you need to know about elimination diets- Why grains and legumes are generally excluded- Foods that are allowed and to be avoided on each type of diet- How to decide which type of diet is best for you-Reintroducing foods after an elimination dietAs always, I hope you find this episode valuable, and I look forward to catching you in the next episode! To learn more, visit the show notes at https://savemythyroid.com/podcast/whats-the-best-diet-for-hashimotos/.
