What’s the Difference? (Lesson 2)
from The Truth Church
Pastor Hilton preaches from Jude 1:20-23 on making a difference through compassion and unity, building on the oneness of God. He establishes that God is numerically one, not a Trinity, and that the Father (Spirit) dwelt fully in Christ (flesh) for reconciliation. This fullness of the Godhead in Jesus provides the foundation for the church's mission. Jesus was driven by love and compassion, an involuntary, visceral reaction to human need—emotional and physical—that led him to heal, teach, and sacrifice. Citing Matthew 9:36 and 14:14, Pastor Hilton emphasizes that compassion must elicit action, not just feeling. John 17:18-23 shows Jesus praying for believers to be one as He and the Father are one, so the world may believe. This unity is not mere agreement but a deep oneness of Spirit, where the church embodies the Godhead on earth. Romans 8:11 and Colossians 2:9-10 affirm that believers are complete in Christ and empowered by the same Spirit that raised Him. The church's power comes from this unity—gathered in one accord (Acts 2:1) and in Jesus' name (Matthew 18:20)—to bind and loose on earth with heaven's authority. Pastor Hilton urges the congregation to pursue this unity, laying aside personal distractions and comparing themselves to Christ, not others. The goal is to be filled with all the fullness of God (Ephesians 3:14-21), operating in His power to bring glory to Him through the church.
