What’s the significance of the Gulf earthquakes and should we worry?

A magnitude 3.9 earthquake struck in the Gulf Sunday night (March 29) at 9:22pm. It was located about 220 miles south-southeast of Venice, Louisiana, at a depth of 1 kilometer. According to the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), the tremor was too small for damage but notable for its rare location. This event did follow a series of recent, stronger earthquakes in northwest LA, including a 4.9 magnitude quake on March 5th. What’s the significance of these Gulf earthquakes, and should we worry?
