What’s Up, Doc? (1972) at 50 with Jonathan Graves

from The Brandon Peters Show

Another seminal film in the history of the medium turned 50 years old this year as well and isn’t really getting the recognition some others are. Peter Bogdanovich’s What’s Up, Doc? starring Babra Streisand and Ryan O’Neal was the 3rd highest grossing film of 1972. It trailed only The Godfather and The Poseidon Adventure in ticket sales. The film is a screwball comedy throwback that also pulls some inspiration from Looney Tunes. And the perfect guest for all that is the host of the premiere Looney Tunes podcast, This Means Podcast – Jonathan Graves. Jonathan is also the spouse of show regular Sabina Graves. We have quite the conversation regarding this wonderful piece of art as we relish in its production, snappy script and performances and just marvel at how untiring it gets. What’s Up, Doc? truly is a film that needs to be rediscovered as its as hilarious as it is clever as it is just damn fine filmmaking. -Brandon The Brandon Peters Show will return Wednesday (4/20) with Old Space Show TECHNICAL INFORMATION VocalsBrandon – Shure SM58-LCJonathan – Unknown Microphone (Recorded with Zoom) Post ProductionNCH Wavepad Masters Edition v8.38NCH MixPad Masters v5.22The Levelator 2 RUNTIME: 120 minutes What’s Up, Doc? is available on DVD and Blu-ray.
