”What’s Your Trigger?” with Susan Campbell...
from Empowering Chats with Susan Burrell · host Susan Burrell
EP #170 - How do we get from triggered to tranquil? Susan Campbell, my guest for this episode of Empowering Chats aims to answer that question. Her latest book, From Triggered to Tranquil, offers techniques for defusing anger and facing the fear of emotional pain. Susan teaches people self-compassion to help heal childhood wounds and relationships. We discuss how to recognize when we are being triggered and when we are feeling like people or circumstances are “against” us. Susan says it’s about learning to hold differences. Although not easy to do, it is attainable. She says it's about honing the skill to listen openly to someone who disagrees with you without losing your own stance or your own point of view. It’s a high skill that not many of us can do, however it is achievable. And according to Susan it will assist you in overcoming your triggers so that those triggers do not lead your life but rather teach you what to be aware of in order to overcome them. Susan Campbell holds a PhD in Clinical Psychology from the University of Massachusetts and is the author of 11 books. She also received extensive post-doctoral training in couple and family therapy, NLP and Buddhist Psychology. Susan leads public seminars throughout the U.S. and in Europe. She also trains and certifies professional “Getting Real” coaches in her unique brand of coaching and group facilitation. When she is not traveling for work, she makes her home in Sonoma County, California.
