It's mostly hilarious to watch Rand fumble around while trying to understand a complex exotic culture but one ex-Maiden, Aviendha, is giving him the hardest time of it. When Rand gave Aviendha the ivory bracelet, to thank her for being his advisor. The Maidens of the Spear believed it to be a courting gift, Aviendha is shamed by that assumption, knowing her true destiny with the Car'a'carn, and his relationship with her near-sister Elaine. She gives Rand a dragon belt buckle made of her own spears to 'settle the debt'. We learn so much about Aiel customs and culture in Fires of Heaven, and it's a delight on each re-read.
