When a Prompt Replaces A Team

Something I’ve been reflecting on: the sheer pace at which AI productivity tools are multiplying is empowering startups to punch above their weight, stretching lean resources into outsized impact. Part of the Startup team can now be AI agents. The lean startups I work with are embracing AI tools at breakneck speed & reshaping themselves around them. The first clue I got of this rapid adoption: A swarm of AI notetakers joining every startup meeting I host. Internally, roles are shifting, workflows are compressing, and what used to take a team now takes a prompt. AI is helping them scale & it’s changing what scaling even looks like. It’s fascinating to watch these teams rewire themselves in real time. The ones that move fastest are AI-native by necessity. That’s why the latest report from Andreessen Horowitz and Mercury is fascinating.
