When Everything Shakes, God Preserves His People | Amos 9:1–10

Can God protect you when disaster and judgment surround you? Amos 9:1–10 gives a sobering answer: God is sovereign over judgment, destruction, and chaos in life and in death—and yet He promises to preserve His own people.In this sermon on Amos 9:1–10, we examine God's sovereignty over judgment and His gracious protection of those who trust in Him. Amos warns God's people not to find false security in religious affiliation, temple worship, or merely being counted among God's people. True security is found in trusting the Lord and looking to Jesus Christ.Amos 9:1–10 also helps us understand an important biblical theme: God may judge and shake His visible people while preserving a faithful remnant for Himself. Even when the church becomes smaller, when hardship comes, and when the world around us is filled with chaos and destruction, God remains sovereign and continues to care for His people.This passage also raises important questions for understanding biblical prophecy and hermeneutics: How should Christians understand Amos in light of the New Testament?
