WHEN GOD CALLS A MEETING Scripture: “Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.” — Isaiah 1:18 There are few invitations in Scripture more remarkable than these words from the Lord: “Come now, and let us reason together.” The phrase “reason together” carries the idea of settling a matter, examining it honestly, and coming to the truthful conclusion. It is not an invitation for man to try God or argue that His judgment is too harsh. Neither is it an opportunity to minimize our sin or convince ourselves and God that we are “not that bad.” Instead, God lovingly calls us into His presence to face reality, with Him.
