When God Changed Your Plans
from The Gen X Disciple · host Gen X Disciple
Most Gen X-ers had a plan — some version of a vision built in our twenties about how life was supposed to go. And most of us can point to the moments when the plan diverged significantly from where we actually ended up. The job that got cut. The relationship that ended. The move we didn't want to make. Some of those were straightforward losses. But from the other side of most of them, a lot of us can see something we couldn't see from inside them. This episode is about building faith from that retrospective view.Proverbs 16:9 names the dynamic honestly: you plan, God establishes. The planning is legitimate and appropriate — God isn't dismissing that. But the establishing of actual steps belongs to Him, and the gap between what you planned and where you ended up is not evidence He wasn't paying attention. The episode asks honestly about the plans we're still grieving, the disruptions we haven't fully made peace with, and how the places where we can already see God's hand become evidence for the places where the plan is still not going how we expected."In their hearts humans plan their course, but the LORD establishes their steps." (Proverbs 16:9, NIV) Today's challenge: name one time your plan was disrupted and God's redirection led somewhere better, write two sentences about it, and use it as your anchor — either to share with someone in their own disruption, or as specific gratitude and evidence for what you're still trusting God with.
