When Healing Becomes Addictive {Ep 202}

from Tuesday Talks with Darleen · host Darleen Redman

Send us Fan MailSometimes, healing can feel so good that we start chasing it. The happy hormones, the breakthroughs, the retreats, the sense of doing something, and it all feels amazing. But what happens when healing becomes addictive? When we keep doing more and more, yet nothing in our life actually changes?In this episode, I talk about how easy it is to get stuck in the loop of healing, especially when it becomes an identity or something we use to avoid life. I share my own experience with it such as how I kept doing the courses, the retreats, the breathwork and still felt like something was missing. Because the real change doesn’t happen in the retreat. It happens in between.Healing isn’t a job title. It’s not your personality. It’s not something that needs to go on forever.  And honestly — nothing is wrong with you. That’s why I don’t use the word healing the way most people do. Because it implies something’s broken. And it’s not. What I focus on is awareness. Because with awareness comes clarity. And with clarity, you get to make new choices.  This episode is an invitation to come back to your own rhythm. To recognise when healing becomes hiding. To gather tools that support you. Not so you can keep fixing yourself, but so you can walk forward with more peace, presence, and trust in your path.You are not a project. You are someone who sees more clearly now. And from that clarity, you get to choose what happens next.Key Insights:• Healing can become addictive when we chase the high • Awareness brings clarity — and that’s where change begins • You’re not broken. You don’t need fixing • The real work happens in everyday life, not just during the retreat • Healing is not your identity — it’s not who you are • Doing more doesn’t always mean shifting more • Tools are important, but life is where they’re tested • Growth is in the pause, the discomfort, the moment you stay with yourself • You get to choose how you respond — not just react • You are not a project.
