When it's languishing, a good thing. This is the day to serve his blood gas with Anthony Angini. I recall waking up one day as a young teenager, so ashamed of one particular habit, subtly stripping guards of their branded emblems with my group mates, and building a personal collection with much pride. But I could no longer stand seeing myself in the mirror.
So I packed all the stolen stuff and turned it over to my surprised friends, and that day I stepped away from both the practice and that group of friends, a course of action because of the language, not just the language, the anguish of my soul within. When is languishing a good thing? When you begin to lose interest in things that are no longer for you. When you begin to languish for such things now inappropriate, even perhaps never meant to be a CEO of a multi-billion food company shared with me last week how a serious medical condition made him realize that he could go any time, and this led him to confess all his sins to his wife before his first all too critical surgery.
Fortunately, he survived, well he said to me, unfortunately he survived because now he had to repent from all his sins towards his family, but it was the best thing it did, right, for his loved ones. He was actually languishing or worse before the medical condition, and he was completely unaware of the brutal fact. And now he was so sick literally and figuratively, he was languishing from, what, the thrill of that overly driven work life and the compromises that went with it. Usual chambers reminds us that often God will wreck a life before he saves it, right?
It's only when you are sick that you truly value health, only when you're down that you realize what you have taken for granted, only when you are depressed that you develop empathy for similarly challenged individuals. When you begin to languish, okay, when we begin to languish, lose interest in those things that are either no longer appropriate for us, or we're never meant to be, then languishing has become a good thing. The very credentials these people are waving around as something special. I'm tearing up and throwing out with a trash.
Paul says in Philippians 3.79, the very credentials these people are waving around as something special. I'm tearing up and throwing out with a trash, along with everything else I used to take credit for. And why? Because of Christ.
Yes, all the things I once thought were so important are gone for my life, compared to the high privilege of knowing Christ, Jesus my master. First hand, everything I once thought I had going for me is insignificant. Dog dung. I've dumped it all in the trash so I could embrace Christ and be embraced by him from the message Bible.
Begin languishing my friend in those things that consume you that aren't worth continuing. That will be a good thing.
