Nicola studied veterinary medicine at the Royal Veterinary College, graduating in 2007, and has over 17 years’ experience in veterinary practice. She began her career working with both large and small animals before specialising in small animal care and end-of-life support.Nicola has undertaken specialist training including Compassion Understood, is CAETA-certified in peaceful euthanasia, and is affiliated with the International Association for Animal Hospice and Palliative Care — all of which inform the calm, thoughtful way she supports dogs and their people at the end of life.Together, we talk openly and gently about home euthanasia for dogs — what it involves, why some families choose it, and how it can offer a calmer, kinder goodbye in a familiar space. We discuss how to recognise when it might be time, the guilt and doubt many owners feel, what dogs experience in their final moments, and how owners can be supported through one of the most emotional decisions they’ll ever make. This is a sensitive conversation, but an important one. It’s not about fear or rushing decisions — it’s about love, dignity, and choosing kindness for our dogs when they need us most.Want to connect with Nicola?
