Send us Fan MailWhen Justice and Peace Come Together (Advent 8)“Steadfast love and faithfulness will meet; righteousness and peace will kiss each other.” Psalm 85:10We don’t have to look very far to find examples of injustice and inequality. We don’t have to search very far to see exploitation and abuse or to see heartbreaking suffering. The season of Advent is a time when we remind ourselves that the way things are, are not the way they must always be. We stubbornly and tenaciously proclaim a different vision for the world, and then we work with everything we have to make it so. Individually and collectively we are called to walk in steadfast and unrelenting love. We are called to be faithful to this vision in the face of all opposition. We work for righteousness, a biblical concept that includes justice- not just a justice that punishes wrongdoing, but a justice that also promotes wellbeing for everyone, particularly for those who are unable to secure their own wellbeing. When peace and justice come together, we will experience the world God desires for us. I’m Horace McMillon.
