When Labels Lie
from Rediscovering Faith · host Rev. Evan Ryder
Send us your questions and reflections! What label have you mistaken for your name?In this episode of Rediscovering Faith, we explore Isaiah 43:1 and God’s promise to his people: “I have summoned you by name; you are mine.”Israel’s failures and painful circumstances were real, but they did not possess the authority to define Israel’s future. In the same way, our past may tell the truth about something we have done or experienced without telling the whole truth about who we are.“I failed” can become “I am a failure.” Rejection can convince us that we are unwanted. Sin, addiction, disappointment, or regret can become labels that feel more permanent than God’s grace. But a label reduces us to one part of our story; God calls us personally by name.God does not deny our past or minimize our sin and wounds. Through Jesus Christ, he enters the full truth of our brokenness to forgive, redeem, and transform us. Your past may be part of your story, but it is not your name—and it does not get to write your ending. You don’t find yourself—you receive who God says you are.Scripture: Isaiah 43:1 Episode: “When Labels Lie” Big Idea: God calls you by name, not your past.#ChristianIdentity #Isaiah43 #GodCallsYouByName #GraceAndRedemption #ChristianPodcast
