When Life Feels Unfair: Soul Lessons in Loss, Blame & Purpose

from Wander & Weave · host Brooklin C. Buchanan

We live in a world where bad things happen to good people — and sometimes the weight of that feels unbearable. When tragedy strikes, our first instinct is often blame, anger, or the aching question: why?In this episode of Wander & Weave, I explore a different perspective: what if our souls choose the lessons, challenges, and even the timing of our departure before we ever arrive? What if loss, as painful as it is, carries a hidden purpose — one that shapes not only us, but the lives of those left behind? You’ll hear about:Why our first response is often blame — and how to release it without dismissing the painThe idea that our souls choose our path (and what that means when tragedy strikes)How choice differs from soul timing — and what I’ve learned about this from mentors and teachingsWhy difficult lives often belong to evolved souls with bigger missionsHow to hold grief and gratitude at the same time, even when life feels deeply unfairThis isn’t about bypassing or pretending loss is easy. It’s about remembering that every challenge is part of a bigger soul story — one that may take a lifetime to understand.Where in your life are you holding onto blame, anger, or “it shouldn’t have happened this way”? What might shift if you trusted your soul has always known the path — even the painful parts?Your soul chose this life, this body, this path... not to punish you, but to strengthen you. Every challenge is shaping you into someone who can hold more love, more light, and more life than you thought possible. If you’re navigating the messy middle whether it be grief, transition, or simply the weight of change — you don’t have to carry it alone. Epics of Rome Dr Rhiannon Evans This subject explores Ancient Roman epic poetry, the literary genre which deals with grand mythical narratives involving heroes, gods, war, and love affairs. Epic was the most prestigious literary form in the ancient world. Roman poets adapted and developed Greek epic, particularly influenced by the Homeric Iliad and Odyssey. Roman epics similarly deal with divine and heroic material, but Roman poets also weave contemporary and topical themes into the mythical subject matter. The primary text for this subject is Ovid's Metamorphoses, which tells many comic tales of the gods in love and encounters between heroes and monsters through a series of transformations. Epics which influenced Ovid will also be studied, such as the Greek epics of Homer, the early Roman epics of Naevius and Ennius, and Virgil's Aeneid, which was the most significant influence on Ovid. We shall also consider Ovid as a major influence upon Western artists and writers, from Shakespeare to David Malouf.
