When No One is Watching: Quiet Christian Leadership In Work, Family, And Crisis with Gerard Cascio

from Men's Leadership God's Way...Burnout Recovery | Decision Making Under Pressure for Leaders | Executive Stress Relief · host Don Wood

"Life is essentially a dress rehearsal for eternity. You don't treat it in a flippant way. Live it well." —Dr. Gerard Cascio When leadership feels heavy, more productivity tips do not help. We need a picture of ordinary men who stay faithful when money is tight, health gives way, and influence is tested behind closed doors. This conversation opens up how faith can quietly shape decisions at work, at home, and in the heart. Dr. Gerard Cascio shares how starting a dental practice in brutal economic conditions, raising three daughters, walking through his child's meningitis, and his own open-heart surgery grew a simple, stubborn trust in God. His story invites us into a slower, more honest vision of Christian leadership that puts obedience before outcomes and legacy before image. Press play to hear a grounded, hope-filled look at spiritual leadership in real life and explore: How a young dentist built a thriving practice by caring more about people than production The faith decision that changed everything when his newborn daughter faced meningitis What a humble mentor taught him about walking with God when no one is watching How a life-threatening heart diagnosis reframed work, time, and purpose Practical ways Christian leadership shows up in marriage, parenting, and money decisions Why legacy for his grandkids begins with daily obedience, not big public moments Connect with Don: Website: https://mensleadershipgodsway.com/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61555688284259 LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/don-wood-55318851/ X: https://x.com/donwood45 YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/user/donwood0917/videos Episode Highlights: 02:45 Faith Over Fear: Starting a Dental Practice in a Brutal Economy 08:03 Growing Beyond Fence-Straddling 11:20 The Power of Attitude 15:15 Missionary Journey as Family 18:43 Growth is at the End of Your Comfort Zone 23:33 Money and Stewardship 28:37 Making a Difference at Your 70s 32:08 Surgery and Surrender 39:11 Godly Marriage: Looking Upward Instead of Each Other 42:24 Modern Leadership Confusion 48:51 Equipping The Next Generation to Stand Strong in a Hard World Meet Gerard: Dr. Gerard Cascio is a retired dentist from Beaumont, Texas, who began his private practice in 1980 during a period of steep interest rates and economic hardship in the region. Educated in Catholic schools, he built his career on a deeply held Christian faith and the conviction that people must first know how much you care before they care how much you know. Over more than four decades, his practice grew primarily through word of mouth, driven by a personal, relationship-centered approach and a commitment to treating every patient as he would his own family. Gerard and his wife Brenda, married for over 47 years, have three daughters and a growing legacy of grandchildren whose faith and character are central to his sense of purpose. Shaped by his parents' missionary work in El Salvador and Guatemala, he has instilled in his family a heart for service, gratitude, and generosity. After surviving a major four-way bypass surgery in his late sixties, Gerard's focus has turned even more toward legacy, spiritual leadership, and investing in his family. Now retired, he spends his time caring for his grandchildren, supporting extended family, and modeling humble, faith-driven leadership with eternity in view.
