When nobody is clapping.
from Daily Steps Podcast · host Footsteps.Online
‘On the third day there was a wedding in Cana of Galilee, and the mother of Jesus was there. Now both Jesus and His disciples were invited to the wedding. And when they ran out of wine, the mother of Jesus said to Him, “They have no wine.” Jesus said to her, “Woman, what does your concern have to do with Me? My hour has not yet come.” His mother said to the servants, “Whatever He says to you, do it.”’ Verse 1:” This beginning of signs Jesus did in Cana of Galilee, and [a]manifested His glory; and His disciples believed in Him.” John 2: 1-5, 11 This thing of turning up for Jesus involves a lot of moments of nobody seeing half of what you are going through because all you want is for His name and His love to be known in the world. But that is the most genuine part of this journey. Do you know that Jesus only showed up for some 3 years of His 33 years of life? He was hidden, nobody knew about Him and His potential, except for His parents and perhaps His close family. We see this when Mary, His mama knew about His potential to turn water into wine, and somehow forced Him into doing His very first public miracle. When it was time for Him to be revealed to the world, He had gone through a grueling (my opinion) 3 years of being unknown. During these 30 years, He was invested in learning the scriptures, spending time with God and His family, and getting to know Himself. I am sure before turning water into wine, He had so many other miracles in secret, that left his family amazed. Could it be that He was practising or learning the art of having faith in God’s ability to use Him? Remember that He was fully man too. He had to learn some things concerning His faith and His relationship with God too. They didn’t come naturally. He had to meet some milestones too! He did all of this for a whole of 30 years, and the world didn’t know Him. When they finally met Him, opening a blind man’s eyes was probably no longer a big deal to Him because He had done that before when nobody was watching. Would we also be like Him? That we seek so much devotion to Him, that we don’t seek to be seen for what we are doing for the kingdom. That we devote the best of ourselves to the kingdom, even before anybody is clapping for us or seeing us. Remain a secret and a delight to your loved ones, until God reveals you.
