When Presence Is Enough: Beyond the Posture

from The Remembering · host Cynthia Juhre

While in Costa Rica, there was the option of daily morning yoga.Because of travel-activated pain and the reality of living with PMR, I gave myself something I had rarely allowed before:the permission to wake each morning and decide. The mornings were difficult.Pain was present. My bed didn’t support rest. And the walk to the yoga shala alone increased discomfort. And yet—to my surprise—I chose to show up each day.Not from obligation. Not from identity. But from an honest, embodied yes. What emerged was a profound realization:my body has already lived through every asana it will ever need.Yoga was never about the postures. It was about presence.Listening.Body awareness.Relationship.The shapes never made me a better human. They never guaranteed a healthier body.Presence did.In this episode, I share how choosing daily consent—rather than discipline—helped me recognize that my presence alone is capable of sustaining the best version of me, even without movement. This reflection is for anyone living with pain, fatigue, or a body that no longer fits into prescribed practices or schedules. You are not less devoted because you listen. You are not failing the practice when you choose yourself.Sometimes the deepest yoga is presence without posture.Listen gently.Let your body lead.If this offering supports you and you’d like to help sustain this work, you’re welcome to contribute via Venmo: @Cynthia-JuhreYour presence here is already enough.⸻Hashtags#PresenceWithoutPosture#EmbodiedYoga#PainInformedPractice#SomaticWisdom#LivingWithPMR#YogaBeyondAsana#ConsentBasedHealing#RestIsEnough#NervousSystemCare#ListeningToTheBody#SustainablePresence#TempleOfRemembrance#HealingWithoutForcing
