When the Acorns Drop

When the white oaks start dropping in September, the whole woods reorganizes overnight. Deer abandon the bean fields for the ridges; squirrels work sunup to sundown; turkeys scratch through the flats. An entire forest is fed by what simply falls from above — provision none of the animals planted, earned, or deserved.James says that's the picture of every good thing in your life: every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father. The job, the family, the health, the sunrise over the decoys, the very breath in your lungs — all of it dropping from the hand of a Father who does not change like shifting shadows.A man can walk through a woods raining acorns and never look up. Don't be that man with your blessings. Everything good in your life fell from somewhere. Look up. The Father of lights is generous, unchanging, and He's been feeding the ridge your whole life.Prayer:Father of lights, every good thing in my life came down from You — and I've walked past most of it without looking up.Make me a man who notices provision and names its Source. You do not change, You do not run dry, and You have never stopped giving. Thank You.
