When There Are No Answers

Every serious follower of Jesus Christ has to be tested with a season that holds no answers. Discipleship that cannot be tested should not be trusted. God develops our trust-muscle in some seasons by not giving easy answers to questions that we feel are crucial for us. We often find ourselves asking, “Why…how…when?” When Heaven’s response is silence, it can produce in us feelings of alarm, dread, or frustration. In John chapter 9, we meet a man whose life has been dramatically changed. The miracle he experienced causes quite the stir among others which produces no fewer than 17 different questions. The answers do not come, and the man himself is left for a moment in heaviness. When Jesus comes to him personally, we see an example of what it looks like to believe without answers.
