When They Lie About You in Family Court—Who Will You Become?

from Family Court Mastery with Jason Appleyard (England&Wales) · host the_Applewotzit

What happens when someone lies about you in family court—and your fear, anger and desperation begin turning you into the person they claim you are? False allegations, disputed accounts and character attacks can leave separated parents feeling powerless. The hardest part is often being forced to live inside somebody else’s version of what happened. In this video, Jason Appleyard from Family Court Mastery examines how parents can respond when an ex-partner lies, exaggerates events, obstructs child arrangements or presents them unfairly to Cafcass and the Family Court. The natural reaction is to fight back and correct every accusation. But angry messages and emotional explanations can create the very evidence used to portray you as hostile, controlling or unstable. You cannot control whether somebody lies about you. You can control whether your reaction helps them make that lie believable. This video explores: How fear turns reasonable parents into reactive ones Why excessive messages can damage credibility The difference between allegations, interpretations and evidence Why specific facts are stronger than labels such as “narcissist” How to respond without becoming consumed by conflict Why calm, consistent behaviour is a strategy—not weakness How personal responsibility differs from accepting false blame How to remain child-focused under pressure This does not mean ignoring dishonesty, coercive control or safeguarding concerns. Serious issues may require clear evidence, professional advice and proportionate action. Before responding, ask: What can I prove? How is this relevant to my child? Am I responding to evidence—or reacting to fear? If my child eventually reads my messages, what kind of parent will they see? Family court presents a choice: become bitter and reactive, or become calmer, clearer and more disciplined. The greatest victory may not be proving that the other parent lied. It may be reaching the point where their dishonesty no longer controls who you become. Subscribe to Family Court Mastery for direct, child-focused and psychologically informed family-court support.
