They had lived through seasons of defeat, discouragement, and being counted out.The Gospel writers remembered these words when they told the story of Jesus. Israel did not count for much in the eyes of Rome, and Jesus counted for even less.But this verse reminds us:our skeptics and our critics do not have the final word.The power of God at work within us can restore what has been lost,heal what has been broken,and free what has been held captive.And we—like living stones once rejected—are being shaped and placed into something greater than ourselves.We may be dismissed by the world,but we are called by God.I’m Horace McMillon.
