When You Can't Find God | Come Follow Me Sleep Meditation | Job
from Come Follow Me Meditations · host Pondereth
Rest tonight in the promise a suffering man wanted carved into rock so it would outlast him — I know that my Redeemer liveth. A Come Follow Me sleep meditation for August 10–16, "Yet Will I Trust in Him" (Job 1–3; 12–14; 19; 21–24; 38–40; 42). This week we sit with Job in the land of Uz, in the evening, after nearly everything he had was gone. He was upright. He was faithful. And the hard things came anyway. His friends travel a long way to be with him, and they begin well — sitting in the dust beside him in silence for seven days — before they start explaining his suffering back to him as something he must have earned. Job refuses a comfort that isn't true. "Though He slay me, yet will I trust in Him." Later he admits he looks forward and backward and cannot find God at all — and then says the thing that changes everything: "But He knoweth the way that I take." And from inside the loneliest chapter of his life, Job declares a Redeemer he expected to see with his own eyes, long before Bethlehem, long before the empty tomb. If you are carrying something tonight that has not been resolved, you do not have to solve it before you sleep. Play this as you settle into bed and release the day to God.
