When You Fast: Remain Steadfast
from Valleyview Church · host Valleyview Church Englewood
As we enter the final week of our 21-day fast, this message calls us to finish well — not by striving, but by fixing our eyes on Jesus. Throughout this series we’ve explored why we fast, how fasting shapes us, and how God responds when we seek Him. Now, as the fast becomes harder and the temptation to coast grows stronger, Scripture invites us to hold on, stand firm, and take heart.Drawing from Psalm 27, Hebrews, Philippians, Ephesians, and the words of Jesus in John 16, we’re reminded that God is faithful, that opposition is real, and that Christ has already overcome. Fasting trains us to wait on the Lord with expectation, to resist discouragement and distraction, and to cling to the promises and power of God even when we don’t yet see the results. This final week also returns us to our shared corporate focus as we continue asking:Who is God inviting me to pray for?And what would it look like to walk with that person toward Him?In all of this, the invitation is not to perform, but to persevere — trusting that the One who began a good work in us will carry it to completion.
