When your genes make life unpalatable.
from The Dead Man Walking Podcast Hosted by repeatedly dead fred
In this episode of overcoming adversity, I speak with Dr. Christine Errico. Christine was dealt a tough hand, being born with a cleft palate at a time when the surgical protocols and therapies were hardly at the levels they are now. Even knowing some people with cleft palates, Christine's story surprised me. I truly had no idea what was involved in correcting her palate, nor did I realize how profoundly the condition can also affect a person's hearing. Despite dozens of surgeries, years of therapies, and so many obstacles, Christine rose above it all, earned herself a PhD and is an accomplished educator.
