Where Are You Running To?

Say HiWhen God calls to give us a task for the ministry, many, if not all, of us feel like running because we feel inadequate, unworthy and all together unqualified for the task. We are not alone. Even the Old Testament prophets felt so inadequate too. Each of us has good reason to feel unqualified because we all have our mistakes. However, our inadequacy is more than compensated by His adequacy.See Moses, when God called him from the fiery bush, Moses was eighty years old yet he felt very unqualified and inadequate. Moses gave so many excuses. In Exodus 3:11, Moses said “Who am I that I should go?” In Exodus 4:1 Moses said “But they won’t listen to me and they won’t believe me.” In Exodus 4:10, he said again “But I don’t speak good.”Despite the feeling of inadequacy that Moses felt, in the end God used Moses mightily. Through obedience to the call upon his life, he became one of the greatest heroes of the Old Testament. When God calls He knows what He sees in you and all your excuses are not adequate enough to justify our wanting to run away.Jeremiah expressed his inadequacy by telling God that he couldn’t speak well and that he was too young (Jer. 1:6), yet God persuaded him to answer His call. The truth is, your limitations and inadequacies cannot compare to the all sufficiency and ultra-adequacy of our Lord Jesus Christ. So, what is your calling? Where does God want you to serve?
