Where Are You Sitting?“Blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked, nor stand in the path of sinners, nor sit in the seat of scoffers.”— Psalm 1:1. It sounds simple, but this verse describes, step by step, the quiet process of spiritual decline. First, you walk alongside those who live without God. Then, you stop for a while, start to think that what once bothered you isn’t such a big deal anymore. Finally, you sit down, get comfortable, and no longer notice how far you’ve drifted from the right path.The psalmist is shouting to us: “Be careful where you’re stopping!” Because no one turns away from God all at once — it happens slowly, little by little. A conversation that doesn’t build you up, a friendship that pushes you toward sin, a habit or content that cools your heart. And before you realize it, the fire of faith has turned into ashes.But there’s a promise here: blessed is the one who chooses the other path. The path of saying “no” to sin, even when it costs something. The path of preferring to be alone with God rather than surrounded by those who mock Him. The path of understanding that holiness isn’t isolation — it’s a decision. It’s saying, “I belong to Christ, and I won’t compromise that.”Young person, maybe today God is asking you: where have you been walking? Who have you been standing with? Where have you been sitting? If you feel like you’ve drifted away, there’s still time to come back. Get up from among the mockers. Step away from what holds you down. Run back into the arms of God, where true happiness begins.Today, choose your place. Don’t sit where sin is celebrated. Sit at the feet of Jesus, where forgiveness, peace, and purpose are found. Because the happiest person in the world is the one who decided to walk, stand, and sit — only with God.
