Where Does the Old Testament Come From?

from Thinking Theology · host Karl Deenick

The Bible is often thought of as one book, but it’s actually 66 little books of all different types and kinds. But where did they all come from, who wrote them, and how did we end up with those 66 books? In this episode and next episode, we’re thinking about the composition of the Bible or what is often called the Canon—the collection of books that are accepted as being genuine and inspired by God. In this episode we’re focussing on the Old Testament; we’re those 39 books came from, who wrote them, and about other books that didn’t make it into the Old Testament.

Some things are foolish, and some are prophetic. We hope to engage with the people and inspire deeper thinking about societal norms. Whole Faith Marcus & Jessa Myer Welcome to The Whole Faith Podcast, where we go deep into the things of God. We're your hosts, Marcus and Jessa Myer - a husband-and-wife team passionate about pursuing and telling the Truth. The more we study Scripture, the more we experience the ever-growing joy and pleasure found only in Jesus. We’ve been doing ministry together for the past 15 years, and one thing we’ve seen over and over again is that so many of our brothers and sisters in Christ are desperately hungry for a deeper teaching of God’s Word. In each episode, we explore theology, doctrine, and practical wisdom that every believer should have the confidence to pursue. Join us as we uncover essential truths from Scripture and tackle difficult, sometimes controversial questions to provide you with biblical answers. Where the Enemy wants to keep the Church in a place of shallow faith and theological insecurity, our hope is that these conversations will equip you with boldness and assurance! Now, let’s grow deeper together Women with Dyslexia Podcast: Living the Gospel with Power Hope B This podcast is designed for women with dyslexia who believe that God can do something new. The Apostle Paul says that we are transformed by renewing our minds to do what pleases the LORD, which is His will. When our minds are renewed (neuroscientists call this neuroplasticity), we are transformed. This podcast will contain short biblical messages designed to replace our old negative thinking with the truth found in God’s word. It is devoted to encouraging and inspiring adult women with dyslexia by listening to biblical truths that will uplift and challenge them to find a place for dyslexia in their lives and let Christ take center stage of their lives. To benefit from these short yet powerful messages, I recommend making these podcasts part of your morning and evening time with the Lord. Thank you for joining me.
