Where is the Kingdom of God?
from Daily Picture · host Stephanie Hawkins
Today I reflect on the Kingdom of God. When a loved one leaves this earth how close to us are they? In Luke 17:20-21 we read, "Once, upon being asked by the Pharisees when the kingdom of God would come, Jesus replied, "The coming of the kingdom of God is not something that can be observed, nor will people say, 'Here it is', or "There it is', because the kingdom of God is in your midst". There are many accounts in both the Old and New Testaments of intersections between God's Kingdom and our earth, such as when prophet Elisha prayed for his servant to have his spiritual eyes opened and he indeed saw supernatural protective horses and chariots of fire (see 2 Kings 6:15-17). In the New Testament Apostle Peter was set free by an angel when he had been heavily chained in prison (see Acts 12:5ff). The Bible has many inferences as to God being outside time and space. Even the first verse implies that: "In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth". So, God was already in existence before time (the beginning) began, before the existence of all we concretely know. Back to that first verse today - "the kingdom of God is in your midst". Let's reflect more on those words and their implications.
