'Where Neuroscience & Mysticism Meet' - Interview w/ Danielle Green P.h.D.(Psychoanalist & Author)

As a Marriage and Family Therapist and Psychoanalyst, I work with individuals, couples, families, and groups, incorporating a wide modalities of treatment to meet their needs and goals. Simultaneously, I am always listening for how the psyche is expressing itself in the presenting symptom, paying attention to dreams, and how meaning is found. My training in Jungian Psychology, Logotherapy (Viktor Frankl, "Man's Search for Meaning") clinical hypnosis, and family and ancestral patterns have shaped by personal and professional life. The roots of my professional life are held in a series of mystical experiences I had a young child. At age 9, I received instructions about my life's purpose.and later, a near death experience. These and other mystical experiences drove me to seek understanding as to what had happened so that I could integrate such transcendent states, visions, and voices.. As a result, my journey into altered states of consciousness and spirituality, began. While I began my academic studies in areas of psychology and religion, it was many years later that I lived the instructions and guidance that came to me as as child. Only decades later when I went to India to adopt my daughter did I fulfill the call and watched the vision present itself before me. The vision of my childhood began to unfold in real time and I finally knew what I had been seeking to understand for years. The story is told on National Public Radio, entitled "No Name Aporva" (a story that resulted in selling my life rights to a Hollywood producer, Forest Whitaker and Freida Pinto). Arriving in India, I was suspected of being a part of an international child trafficking ring. As a result, my face was plastered on the front page of newspapers, I endured death threats, and lived in hiding. Through this experience, I watched the events of my mystical call play out, guiding me to fulfill the call of my childhood. I desperately wanted to understand more about the transcendent realm of the psyche and the unconscious world. I spent 15 years of my life seeking the meaning of such events in cultures around the world, which culminated in my dissertation and book, A Magnificent Obsession, My Life Long Search for the Meaning of the Mystical Call. This exploration carried me to Jungian Psychology and an in-depth framework to understand the workings of the mind. It is this personal story that drove my studies to become both a clergy and a psychoanalyst.
