Where the Compass Points | Ark Conspiracy Ch. 33 | Come Follow Me (Psalms)
from Come Follow Me Meditations · host Pondereth
He has carried his grandfather's watch across a continent, and the answer has been inside it the whole time. Chapter 33 of The Ark Conspiracy, a Come Follow Me faith-fiction series for August 31–September 6, "Let Every Thing That Hath Breath Praise the Lord" (Psalms 102–103; 110; 116–119; 127–128; 135–139; 146–150). THE STORY SO FAR: Noah Reyes crossed a continent with his two best friends to reach a research station buried in the ice, chasing his grandfather's unfinished work and the mother who was taken from him. The floor sealed behind them, the heat is failing, and the people who want what he came for are locked in with him. ▶ START AT THE BEGINNING: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g84Ka4rbIc4&list=PLk8RdfIMqKFegcyJIDF9UVPrZBKqYTcKp This week closes the book of Psalms, and its great subject is memory. Psalm 119 is the long one, the acrostic written by someone who decided that what he loved would live where nothing could take it: "Thy word have I hid in mine heart." That same psalm keeps a strange, specific hour — "at midnight I will rise to give thanks unto thee" — and gives us the lamp unto my feet. Psalm 139 finds a man under the night sky discovering he is fully searched and fully known, and that even the night shineth as the day. Psalm 103 tells the soul to forget not all his benefits, Psalm 116 sends it back to its rest, and Psalm 150 hands the last word to everything that breathes. Chapter 33 sits in that same place. A woman asks Noah the one question Samuel Stone left behind, and the honest answer costs him the speech he had been rehearsing since the ferry. What comes back is not a map. It is a note about being faithful without being able to guarantee the outcome — and a memory a nine-year-old decided did not matter, hidden in the one place nobody can steal from.
