Where the F have I been?! How an ADHD Diagnosis Led to Scaling my Business at age 40

from Feel and Find Out · host Raquel DeLuccia, MA, LMFT

Send us Fan MailI hit record again after a long silence, and I’m not going to pretend it was a neat, linear break. It felt more like not texting a friend back for so long that responding starts to feel awkward, so you avoid it even more. That’s what happened with the podcast and I’m finally naming it, laughing at it, and moving forward anyway.A lot changed behind the scenes. I went from being a solo private practice therapist to building a full group therapy practice with multiple clinicians, a bigger office suite, and a dedicated podcast studio I designed to make guest conversations possible. With growth came the unglamorous reality: hiring, HR, marketing, referrals, scheduling, admin, SEO, tech, and clinical supervision, while still seeing clients. When other people rely on you for their livelihood, leadership hits different. This restart is also shaped by my adult ADHD diagnosis and how I have realized the impact it has had on my executive functioning, time management, motivation, memory, and emotion regulation. We talk about what ADHD can look like in adult women, including procrastination, impulsivity, rejection sensitivity, and the pressure to “push through” that eventually stops working. I’m also honest about the role energy and possible hormonal shifts can play when you’re trying to do a lot and still be a whole human.Going forward, Feel and Find Out expands beyond emotion talk into deeper conversations about the mind, brain and body, attachment, generational cycles, neurodivergence, OCD, trauma therapy, couples therapy, and the books that change how we see ourselves. If you want real talk over therapist speak, pull up a chair. Subscribe, share this with a friend who’s restarting something, and leave a review so more people can find us.
