She has shown herself to be adept at giving larger-than-life stories emotional authenticity in Where the Crawdads Sing and Fresh. Here, too, that holds true. The actress justifies our interest in the weather mayhem by making us experience the guilt Kate harbors. Severe weather is a prime topic for movies. It's unsettling to consider that there are lethal environmental forces that are beyond our control. That's why Twister and Twisters are so appealing. The fear that nature may change is exploited by them.
