Passage: 2 Peter: 10-14 Sermon Note: How are we to live as believers, while we wait? I. Spotless and Blameless a. Spotless to our Character; Blameless to our Reputation i. Spotless but not blameless--Unreconciled ii. Blameless not Spotless--Hypocrite iii. Spotless and Blameless--Holy iv. Not Spotless and Not Blameless—Heathen b. Point is to continuously deal with the sins in our lives i. Discern, detest and Confess it ii. Go to war against it iii. Be faithful to the means of grace c. Secular and Christian understanding of Constraint Living i. “We are always bound to something, to say you’re not is lying to yourself. To liberate yourself in music, you must constrain, bind yourself, to practice. True freedom is not the absence of constraint but rather teh choice of which liberating constraints to put yourself under.” II. With Peace a. Enjoying the Peace of God i. Peace that comes from certainty and assurance of what’s to come. ii. Lots of us are not at peace, because we do not know what’s to come. 1. Secular world has tremendous trouble in giving it’s people hope. b. Secular and Religious world don’t have an answer for death. c. Christianity offers a fuller answer for Hope that gives peace i. The promise of personhood that you can love ii. The promise of restoration of a life that was always meant to be iii.
