The day-to-day grind and the fact that I lived in a big city at times almost felt claustrophobic. Coming home, although only a few hours southwest, was always a welcome relief. I grew up in horse country. We always had horses, and the feeling of being able to get out on a trail and feel the wind on my face was the perfect way to decompress. I might go from a slow walk to a light trot or canter depending on the terrain. There’s nothing like it. On this day, the gentle rolling hills led to an open meadow and finally over to some dense forests.
