White and Blue

from mistrust · host mistrust

"White and Blue" is inspired by a journey on the Bridgewater Line - the railway line between Wigan and Salford in Greater Manchester,UK. The song references some of the places and stations such as Hindley, Daisy Hill, and Atherton. The colours white and blue refer to livery of the different trains run by Northern Railway that carry passengers along the line. The song came about when I was asked by a grassroots music venue, The Snug in Atherton, Greater Manchester, if I would be interested in re-working my song "Yellow and Grey". They'd seen me performing Yellow and Grey at one of their original music nights and said they loved it! They thought it would be a great fit - albeit with slightly different lyrics for a local arts project they were involved in. To cut a long story short, I jumped at the chance, and the result is "White and Blue"!! The arts project is a series of comic strips located at Atherton station celebrating the work of The Snug and another local business, which. It was organised by Northern Railway, SELCRP, Cross Country Trains, and the local council. All profits from sales of "White and Blue" will be donated to the Music Venue Trust" to help support grassroots music venues like "The Snug"
