White Fang Part 2 Chapter 3 - The Grey Cub

In which the young grey cub, distinct from his siblings and inheriting the steady eyes of his sire, embarks upon his earliest experiences within the dim confines of the lair, driven irresistibly towards the light at its mouth as he gropes for life and learning amidst the tender ministrations and stern lessons of his mother. Hunger and hardship soon visit the small family, compelling the she-wolf and One Eye to brave dangers afield, while the cub faces loss and solitude in the gloomy wilderness that is as yet all he knows.
