White Liberalism on Campus Silencing Anti-Genocide Dissent (Part 2) Episode 009

from BIPOC Academic Coalition

In this episode, we continue our conversation about Columbia University and the corporate administration (and faculty) attack on students’ liberties to do what youth are supposed to do in higher education: Think critically. Protesting injustices, freedom of expression, liberties to speak against prevailing norms, questioning authority and other counterculture acts are all hallmarks of the student experience. Unfortunately, academia fostering critical thinking is often falsely promoted by the corporate wing of academia to entice prospective “clients”, but students quickly learn that when they protest accepted discrimination within the university, they are shut down. Protesting the ongoing slaughter of Palestinians and their own university’s complicity has become a taboo, and not even the physical danger endured by protestors by counter-protestors is enough to make academia’s status quo question their own racial biases.

Ozarks Haints N Hooch Ozarks Haints N Hooch Ozarks Haints N Hooch features two sisters from the Ozarks, Dawn Larsen and Dina Larsen Gillman. They gather bi-monthly remotely from two different states to offer stories about Ozark ghosts, monsters, superstitions, people, places, lore, and history - with a bonus twist, a cocktail themed to the feature story. Grab some hooch and join them, but know that “this ain’t no fancy, academic, check your references, kinda deal. This is four girls from the Ozarks sipping and spewing about haints, hooch, and history.” FB / Instagram: @OzarksHaintsNHooch Explicit Secret Feminist Agenda secretfeministagenda.com Secret Feminist Agenda is a weekly podcast about the insidious, nefarious, insurgent, and mundane ways we enact our feminism in our daily lives. Hosted by academic and podcaster Hannah McGregor. Explicit Betwixt and Between Betwixt and Between Betwixt and Between are two witches and real life friends who curl up on the sofa amidst animals, tea and craft projects to chat about witchcraft. Sometimes we bring on knowledgeable guests and sometimes we use our own expertise from our academic backgrounds in theology and psychology to add to texture to our shows. But we always approach our subjects from a practical, personal, dirt-under-fingernails perspective. Explicit The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck: A Counterintuitive Approach to Living a Good Life Free Education In this generation-defining self-help guide, a superstar blogger cuts through the crap to show us how to stop trying to be "positive" all the time so that we can truly become better, happier people. For decades, we’ve been told that positive thinking is the key to a happy, rich life. "F**k positivity," Mark Manson says. "Let’s be honest, shit is f**ked and we have to live with it." In his wildly popular Internet blog, Manson doesn’t sugarcoat or equivocate. He tells it like it is—a dose of raw, refreshing, honest truth that is sorely lacking today. The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F**k is his antidote to the coddling, let’s-all-feel-good mindset that has infected American society and spoiled a generation, rewarding them with gold medals just for showing up.Manson makes the argument, backed both by academic research and well-timed poop jokes, that improving our lives hinges not on our ability to turn lemons into lemonade, but on learning to stomach lemons better. Human beings are flawed Explicit
