White Sox Survive Without Murakami
from Chicago White Sox Today | 2 Minute News | The Daily News Now!
The White Sox are proving they’re more than just Munetaka Murakami’s team, holding their own with a winning record in his absence and even seeing slight offensive boosts from other players stepping up. But while the bats are firing, the pitching has stumbled badly in June, dragging them toward the bottom of the league — a troubling sign as the schedule heats up. Murakami’s return remains uncertain, though rookie Jacob Gonzalez is getting his shot — and admits he’s still learning. With a tough second half looming, the Sox need Murakami and catcher Kyle Teel back fast — and possibly a pitching upgrade at the trade deadline — to turn things around and make a postseason push.
