Remember the Time: The Hyphy Movement The Red Bulletin In the mid-2000’s a sound emerged out of the Bay Area that would overtake the sonic landscape of hip-hop for a brief but impactful period showcasing not only the music, but also the overall culture of the Bay Area. A culture that changed the way the hip-hop nation danced, dressed, spoke, and even drove their cars. The Lil Jon produced, E-40 helmed smash “Tell Me When to Go” accurately summed up the surface of the Hyphy movement as a music and culture, but the origin is much deeper. Without the independent nature of the Bay Area, Hyphy could have never existed. In Remember the Time: The Hyphy Movement, we take a deep dive into a subgenre, a movement, a culture that though short lived, still permeates across the globe to this very day, influencing some of today’s top performers.Join host, Branden J. Peters—veteran creative and California native— who has documented music, sports, and pop culture for over two decades, as he speaks with artists, executives, dancers and journalists a NFC Championship Game Runner-Up Podcast with future host Frank S. Matthew B This is a podcast created by two Yoopers (one still lives up there, the other is in Wisconsin) where we talk about our interests (comedy, sports, hunting, goofy stories, and of course, the Green Bay Packers) and life observations. Permission to Speak iHeartPodcasts Permission to Speak is a fun and fiery romp through how we talk and what our voice says about us with Samara Bay, speech coach to the stars and public speaking adviser back when there was a public to speak in. Each week she interviews people who specialize in how we use our voice and people in the public eye who are USING it—what it took to find their voice, when it still wavers, the crap comments they’ve gotten for being too loud or too soft or too millennial or too anything because PEOPLE HAVE OPINIONS, and how to give ourselves permission to speak like we belong in rooms of power just as we are. Let’s destabilize the patriarchy together! Let’s talk about deep AF societal dysfunction and how it plays out on our bodies and voices, but, like, have fun doing it! Hi. This is for you. Jesus. Plus.
