Who and Why - Welcome To Reverse, Reset, Restore

from Reverse, Reset, Restore · host Sally

Send us Fan MailAfter a near death experience, and subsequently being diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes, my life forever changed.  I guess being faced with your own mortality will do that! But along with my diagnosis and a desire to change, it raised the ugly way I thought, saw and treated myself.  Full of shame, anger, grief and disgust, I began a smear campaign within my own mind. This paired beautifully with years of self abuse and mistreatment which had led to a painful relationship with what I saw as a body broken beyond repair in a life half lived in fear.  As a chronic over thinker,  people pleaser and self-saboteur, I knew all the tricks to make myself feel like I was never going to be enough. My drive for perfectionism had seen me overworked, undervalued and burnt out. I had given myself to relationships that were often built on my ability to help others but not really be helped in return, so I built walls to protect myself. Like most people, my traumas began somewhere in my childhood and hitched a ride into my adulthood, sometimes hiding in the shadows and sometimes coming out in thoughts, feelings and actions that only made me feel more out of alignment with who I wanted to be, who I thought I truly, deeply was. I was sick of always been sick. I was tired of feeling like I was both 'too much' and 'not enough.'  I was exhausted from carrying around a lifetime of physical, mental and emotional pain. Of living this kind of quiet desperation that accompanies one without hope.Something had to change. I knew that something was me. Here's the thing; we often look to others to change. We expect it, demand it even. It's easier to try to impose our will on others than to turn inward and see that true and lasting change always and only comes from within. Change is a choice. And it's also an action. This podcast is about reclaiming our awesome power and reconnecting to who we truly are. We’re going to look at how our thinking really does impact, influence and create the lives that we lead. We’ll learn about letting go and releasing ourselves from the suffering of our own design and how to move into a place where we can allow the good into our mind, our heart and our whole life. This is my journey. But, I hope it becomes yours too.I'll always finish the episode with a quote and I'll leave this weeks quote here:As the Stoic Epic-te-tus reminds us “Circumstances don’t make the man, they only reveal him to himself.”It’s my hope that this podcast will help reveal who we truly are, and who we’re meant to be. https://www.instagram.com/reverseresetrestore/?fbclid=IwAR0ycrx4XHwDTZIwEx5LpeXF2NQOJ3cK1eJ7P1nUezK3REQR6wdBm3Mr_nYhttps://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100092872185263
