Who are Al-Mala (The Leadership)?

In Quran we find that Allah uses a specific word called“Al-Mala” and this was repeated several times in the stories of Musa, Noah, Shoaib عليهم السلامWho are Al-Mala?They are the leadership; it could be the political, economic, media, social leadership. It is these people who stand against the Ambiya (Prophets). Why? Because they are the ones who feel they will lose at any change to the status quo. These leaders are the ones who are benefiting from the status quo and they don’t want any change to it, so they resist the da’wah (Call) of the Ambiya as they know that the Ambiya are coming to strip them from their power and give it to the book of Allah.It is always few people who change the course of History, both on the side of good and on the side of evil, while the majority just eat to live and live to eat.Remember at battle of Uhud when Muhammed ﷺ, Omer bin khattab and other sahaba R.A retreated to high mountains, Abu Sufyan who was the leader of Quraish fighting Muslims specifically ask “Is Muhammed among you?, is Abu Bakr among you? Is Omer among you?” why? because these were the leaders. To give you another example Thomas Friedman who is New York Times Columnist , and is well connected in Washington DC, was first said that Iraq war was caused by just 25 Neoconservatives, most of them Jewish. [1]One more example is of Kim and Fred Kagan who become eyes and ears of General David Petraeus while he was in-charge of American troops in Afghanistan. These Husband wife duo were instrumental in prolonging Afghan war. [2]Similarly if you have seen Documentary “Surge” where David Petraeus who was also commander of American troops back in 2007 said that entire Pre-ISIS Iraq Insurgency is led by 8-9 men and none of them are Iraqi’s, they are Saudi’s and from other countries, but the foot soldiers are iraqis, but decision making, planning, Intelligence are all in the hands of these 8-9 men. Imagine just nine men causing the world’s most advanced, well trained, well equipped Army billions of dollars of damage? [3] that’s why allah says in the Quranإِنَّ إِبْرَاهِيمَ كَانَ أُمَّةً قَانِتًا لِّلَّهِ حَنِيفًا وَلَمْ يَكُ مِنَ الْمُشْرِكِينَ“{“Indeed, Ibrahim was a nation unto himself…”} [an-Nahl; 120]And how often is one man equal to a thousand * And how often are a thousand men equal to none…” [‘Fi Dhilal Surat at-Tawbah’; p. 50-54]These are what Quran call Al-Mala (the leadership) they are few and they control, influence, manipulate everything.Example of people of SamoodHow many are the ones who made the plan to Kill the Camel? – Nine. And then who was the one who went ahead and made the first move? – One. Nine men are the ones who administered the execution of the camel and plan to kill Saleh A.S, but how come the rest of the people of Thamud (Present day Yemen and Hijaz area) were destroyed? It was only nine who plotted though? [4]Because they knew about this corruption and they did nothing to stop it. Because they were a silent majority, because they thought that they could eat and drink and have sex and sleep and they can be secure and safe – ‘We are safe in our houses, nothing’s gonna affect us.’ There is no grey area, there’s nothing in between: You are either with Hizb Ar-Rahman – the party of Allah SWT- or the other side of Hizb Ash-Shaytan – the party of Shaytan – there’s nothing in between.When Allah talk about Pharoah, he refer to his advisors and ministers who were lobbying to Pharoah on how to deal with Musa A.S [5]When Allah talk about Shoaib A.S he refer to the leaders of his people [6].When Allah talk about Noah A. Two years later, in the 10th year AH, the Prophet made Hajj along with 124,000 people. How many were there during the conquest of Makkah? There were 10,000. This means that in the two years between the two, there were 114,000 who became Muslim. However, the core of this society and its essence and foundation and nucleus was the mere thousand who participated at Uhud or the 1,400 who witnessed Bay’at ar-Ridwan. These, if they were to have been removed them from the picture, the entire society would’ve collapsed.Because of this, the governments are smart when they fight Islam. They are very smart. They don’t come and kill everyone and have this held against them. Rather, they come and remove the five, six, or seven leaders who are the nucleus and essence and solid foundation and kill them off. We are telling the truth.So they plotted a plot, and We planned a plan, while they perceived not.Then see how was the end of their plot! Verily! We destroyed them and their nation, all together.” Quran Surah An Naml 27:48-51* Pharoah and his advisorsوَقَالَ الْمَلَأُ مِن قَوْمِ فِرْعَوْنَ أَتَذَرُ مُوسَىٰ وَقَوْمَهُ لِيُفْسِدُوا فِي الْأَرْضِ وَيَذَرَكَ وَآلِهَتَكَ قَالَ سَنُقَتِّلُ أَبْنَاءَهُمْ وَنَسْتَحْيِي نِسَاءَهُمْ وَإِنَّا فَوْقَهُمْ قَاهِرُونَThe chiefs of Fir’aun’s (Pharaoh) people said: “Will you leave Musa (Moses) and his people to spread mischief in the land, and to abandon you and your gods?” He said: “We will kill their sons, and let live their women, and we have indeed irresistible power over them.” – Quran, Surah Al-Araf 7:127* Shoaib A.S and his peopleقَالَ الْمَلَأُ الَّذِينَ اسْتَكْبَرُوا مِن قَوْمِهِ لَنُخْرِجَنَّكَ يَا شُعَيْبُ وَالَّذِينَ آمَنُوا مَعَكَ مِن قَرْيَتِنَا أَوْ لَتَعُودُنَّ فِي مِلَّتِنَا قَالَأَوَلَوْ كُنَّا كَارِهِينَThe chiefs of those who were arrogant among his people said: “We shall certainly drive you out, O Shu’aib! and those who have believed with you from our town, or else you all shall return to our Religion”قَدِ افْتَرَيْنَا عَلَى اللَّهِ كَذِبًا إِنْ عُدْنَا فِي مِلَّتِكُم بَعْدَ إِذْ نَجَّانَا اللَّهُ مِنْهَا وَمَا يَكُونُ لَنَا أَن نَّعُودَ فِيهَا إِلَّا أَن يَشَاءَ اللَّهُ رَبُّنَا وَسِعَ رَبُّنَا كُلَّ شَيْءٍ عِلْمًا عَلَى اللَّهِ تَوَكَّلْنَا رَبَّنَا افْتَحْ بَيْنَنَا وَبَيْنَ قَوْمِنَا بِالْحَقِّ وَأَنتَ خَيْرُ الْفَاتِحِينَHe said: “Even though we hate it! We should have invented a lie against Allah if we returned to your religion, after Allah has rescued us from it. It is not for us to return to it unless Allah, our Lord, should will. Our Lord comprehends all things in His Knowledge. In Allah (Alone) we put our trust. Our Lord! Judge between us and our people in truth, for You are the Best of those Who gives judgment.”وَقَالَ الْمَلَأُ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا مِن قَوْمِهِ لَئِنِ اتَّبَعْتُمْ شُعَيْبًا إِنَّكُمْ إِذًا لَّخَاسِرُونَThe chiefs of those who disbelieved among his people said to their people: “If you follow Shu’aib be sure then you will be the losers!”فَأَخَذَتْهُمُ الرَّجْفَةُ فَأَصْبَحُوا فِي دَارِهِمْ جَاثِمِينَThen the earthquake overtook them, so they became motionless bodies in their abode.الَّذِينَ كَذَّبُوا شُعَيْبًا كَأَن لَّمْ يَغْنَوْا فِيهَا الَّذِينَ كَذَّبُوا شُعَيْبًا كَانُوا هُمُ الْخَاسِرِينَThose who called Shu’aib a liar were as though they had never dwelt therein; those who called Shu’aib a liar, they were the losers.فَتَوَلَّىٰ عَنْهُمْ وَقَالَ يَا قَوْمِ لَقَدْ أَبْلَغْتُكُمْ رِسَالَاتِ رَبِّي وَنَصَحْتُ لَكُمْ فَكَيْفَ آسَىٰ عَلَىٰ قَوْمٍ كَافِرِينَThen he (shu’aib) turned from them and said: “O my people! I have indeed conveyed my Lord’s Messages unto you and I have given you good advice. Then how can I sorrow for the disbelieving people’s (destruction).” – Quran, Surah Al-Araf 7:88-93* Noah A.S and his people“وَلَقَدْ أَرْسَلْنَا نُوحًا إِلَىٰ قَوْمِهِ إِنِّي لَكُمْ نَذِيرٌ مُّبِينٌAnd certainly We sent Nuh to his people: Surely I am a plain warner for you:أَن لَّا تَعْبُدُوا إِلَّا اللَّهَ إِنِّي أَخَافُ عَلَيْكُمْ عَذَابَ يَوْمٍ أَلِيمٍThat you shall not serve any but Allah, surely I fear for you the punishment of a painful day.فَقَالَ الْمَلَأُ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا مِن قَوْمِهِ مَا نَرَاكَ إِلَّا بَشَرًا مِّثْلَنَا وَمَا نَرَاكَ اتَّبَعَكَ إِلَّا الَّذِينَ هُمْ أَرَاذِلُنَا بَادِيَ الرَّأْيِ وَمَا نَرَىٰ لَكُمْ عَلَيْنَا مِن فَضْلٍ بَلْ نَظُنُّكُمْ كَاذِبِينَBut the chiefs of those who disbelieved from among his people said: We do not consider you but a mortal like ourselves, and we do not see any have followed you but those who are the meanest of us at first thought and we do not see in you any excellence over us; nay, we deem you liars.” – Quran Surah Hud 11:25-27 This is a public episode.
