In April 1996, a man named Billy Brown, a childhood friend of Rose, contacted the authorities, saying he wanted to talk.Brown told police that he was with Rose the night she died but claimed he was not her killer. He alleged that he had witnessed Rose being murdered in a brutal fashion by another man, John Ortiz-Kehoe.Eventually, John was arrested in Mexico and extradited to the United States, where he was tried and convicted for the murder.
