We'd love to hear from you!WEAPONS of MASS DISTRACTION:The brain is not equipped to provide clear, creative focus when it is constantly distracted by people, notifications or other interruptions. Constant distractions can seriously infringe upon our creativity and our ability to accomplish projects requiring our full attention. In fact, when there are too many distractions, the consequences that result can produce multiple, even detrimental mistakes, compounding our frustration. In Chapter 8, we covered Energy Vampire #4 with studies showing the average individual checks their phone approximately every 5-7 minutes, even if there are no notifications. It has simply become a habit. In fact, they are now equating the dings and blings of notifications to be similar to that of a cocaine addiction. Here are a few more statistics on this topic as it relates to Focus and Time:Recent statistics state that we spend an average of 2 hours per day on Social Media Platforms:·        40 minutes on YouTube·        35 minutes on Facebook·        25 minutes on Snapchat·        15 minutes on Instagram·        1 minute on TwitterIf you add this up, it comes to an average lifetime total of 5 years and 4 months. Add in the addiction of television with the average lifetime total of 7 years and 8 months and the final number of time lost is 13 years and 2 months. These are years we could spend with those we love or investing in ourselves to become more. Time is the most precious commodity we have and it is one commodity that cannot be bought back or renewed. The solution is to become INTENTIONAL, every day by using the following tips:When you are working on projects, meeting with people, spending time with family or just unplugging, shut off all notifications and alerts on your devices. Choose set “check times” for looking at your emails, social media notifications, texts, voicemails, etc. Example: 10am, 12pm, 2pm, 5pm and 8pm.  Devices are created to serve us; it should never be the other way around. The more intentional you become about scheduling times to check messages, the less likely you are to be distracted and “caught up” in BIG time wasters that are not propelling you into your destiny.  Finally, whenever possible, schedule your biggest tasks earlier in the morning, even before work hours. This habit will give you a head start and avoid the day-to-day distractions that happen during highly active business hours.Excerpts and insights* from Chapter 9 of "Your Journey to Greatness Through Routine: A Guide to Creating a Success Routine" Book Contains:7 Actual Case Studies8 Downloadable ToolsAssessment Questions at the End of Each ChapterThe Brain Science Behind HabitsRetraining Your Brain Through Cognitive RestructuringHeart Science, Energy and the Law of AttractionPowerful Principles of Influence and GreatnessTips and Tools to Build Your Success Routine*Certain portions have been added to actual book excerpts by the author.  LEARN MORE AND PURCHASE THE BOOK at Support the showMichelle L Steffes is a Certified Speaker, Corporate Trainer, Executive Coach and Author of two books: "Reframe & Rewire" (also available on Audible) and "The Machine Inside Me."
