Who Was Amelia Earhart?

Amelia Mary Earhart was an American aviation pioneer and writer. Because she was born in 1897, she grew up at the dawn of aviation and she was bit by the aviation bug at an early age. After convincing her parents to finance flying lessons, Earhart was the first female aviator to fly solo across the Atlantic Ocean. She set many other records, was one of the first aviators to promote commercial air travel, wrote best-selling books about her flying experiences, and was instrumental in the formation of The Ninety-Nines, an organization for female pilots.Amelia Earhart is a true American hero and icon and deserves a special place in Dirt Nap City!
