The Orthodox add two more sisters, including Elizabeth, mother of John. People want to know their ancestors, what tribe they come from, so that they can know where they fit in. Mary came from the line of David, and the the priestly line through her mother. In Baptism we all become related into one family, children of the Father, through the gift of his Son.
