Okay, just finished my sippy sippy podcast is coming out late today, but good morning, Americans. It's Friday. And guess what I'm going to do today? Because people have been actually emailing me and sending me messages on Facebook saying, who should I vote for?
I don't do politics on this podcast. I do politics on Facebook, but I don't do politics on this podcast. But I'm going to tell you. I'm going to tell you.
Stay tuned. I am a former, well, let me, where's my business card? Do I have a business card in here? I don't.
I have a business card up for this, for this very podcast. And on the bottom of it, it says, you know, Michael Carlos, you know, my email and all that good type of stuff. And on the bottom, it says, washed up former member of the national broadcast media. You know what that means?
That means that long ago and far away, actually, not that long ago and not that far away. Literally millions of people used to listen to me on the radio. Yeah. I gave them gardening advice.
And then I did fill in work for people who did political talk shows. I did. I on different networks, on different radio stations. I was in one guy.
I was the guy that you could get a hold of to fill in. And I did did a lot of it. And everybody wanted to know your opinion. Let me explain something to you about all of that.
You've probably listened to a lot of people on the radio over the years telling you exactly how to think. As a matter of fact, Rush Limbaugh, who, by the way, I met in New York City before he was a national radio announcer, Before his show went national, he had a show on WABC, and I actually met him there. And what an incredible broadcaster Okay I mean to sit and watch him do a radio show in person I sat on the other side of the glass and watched him do an hour of radio and I was absolutely floored by it Absolutely floored The Rush Limbaugh, you know, show. It was a show, and that's what you need to know.
It was a show. Rush Limbaugh, like I, like all of everybody that does, like Randy Rhoads, a very liberal radio announcer. Neil Rogers, extremely liberal radio announcer, probably the very best talk show host in the entire universe was Neil Rogers. The absolute best.
I know. Well, that was Neil saying, Neil, were you the best? I know. Oh, yeah, that was his voice.
I stole it. I used it once in a while. You know why? Because what he did was show business.
What Rush did was show business. What Glenn Beck does or attempts to do is show business. By the way, Glenn used to be so damn good. Why did he get so damn bad all of a sudden?
I don't know. I mean, he used to be really, really good at the show business thing. And I don't understand. I listened to him.
I hadn't listened to him for a while. I listened to him the other day. Oh, man, what happened to him? He used to be so good at the show business.
All right. Here's the important thing that you need to know when relying on people in show business, because that's what we all are. Anybody who's got a podcast? Anybody?
Well, number one, I remember Rush Limbaugh telling me personally, telling me personally in New York City when he had the hottest show on WABC. I mean, and it was damn good. I remember him telling me personally when I met him, when my friend Sonny Block, the late Sonny Block, who was also a nationally syndicated radio person. He said, we are in show business.
Our job is not to change the world. Our job is not to make the world a better place. Our job is to get people to call Geico for 15 minutes to get a better price on their auto insurance That our job And when I heard that I said oh yeah that makes sense You know, he said my first responsibility is to get a bunch of people to listen to me. And he found this little thing doing what he did would get tons of people to listen to him.
Because when he started, he actually saved AM radio. He actually saved with his extreme talent and his right wing views. He saved AM radio. Now, believe me, the right wing views are the smallest part of it.
because I don't even know if he believed all of that stuff because I saw him being kind to people there at WABC. I saw him being just a much better person than what you heard on the radio. And the same can be said for Glenn Beck. As a matter of fact, I know a lot of people who know Glenn Beck.
And the people who know Glenn Beck will tell you that he is one of the most loyal people in the world and kindest people in the world, not what you're hearing depicted on the radio. That's show business. That's what we're all in. But the other thing that you need to know when you decide that one of us should tell you who to vote for, voting is a very important decision.
It is a extremely precious and important decision. Do not take the advice of Sean Hannity. OK, or do not take the advice of Rachel Maddow, because we're all in freaking show business. People in show business for years and I'm talking centuries were the lowest of the classes in very old England.
you know, back before there was the United States, the people who were in the show business were the lower class. As a matter of fact, lower than the class of the people who came and pushed the sewage underneath the house. You know what I'm saying? In London, they had those undergrounds in New York City.
They had these underground sewers and they had people down there with oars pushing it along before there were pumps And they were considered the very lowest class No those are the hardworking people We were much lower than them okay because we sat our asses in nice beautiful studios and told you how to vote. Don't listen to us. Don't listen to some person whose main job, whose main, main, main job is to get you to buy a goddamn pillow, okay, tell you how to vote. You make that decision yourself.
You do the research yourself. You grab onto everything you need to know about the candidate that you're looking at and be very realistic about it. OK, say exactly what is this person going to do for you? What is this person going to do for your family?
Don't listen to the BS that you're going to hear on the media because we are in show business. We are so low class. It isn't even funny. OK, and I don't believe in a class system, but trust me, I've been doing this for damn near 40 years and we are low class.
You know what we do is is so unimportant. We're here to entertain you. We're here to get you to listen to stuff. we're not here to tell you how to make the most important decision that you have to make other than family decisions and we're sure as hell not here to tell you how to do that screw dr laura okay who the hell was she oh she's gone now she's gone you might find her somewhere i don't know but you know that was a big phenomenon she was show business she didn't realize it then she was gone do not listen to liberals or conservatives in show business to tell you who to vote for due to research, make the decision based on your beliefs and your family and get out and vote.
In a couple of weeks, probably the most important decision in my lifetime is going to happen. Think of that very seriously. We'll see you next week.
